Today, several Indian institutions are providing higher education through online mode. They are offering UGC accredited degree and diploma courses acknowledged globally.

Institutions and programmes acknowledging body:
UGC, a statutory body set up by the government of India, is in charge of coordinating, determining, and maintaining the standards of higher education in India. It had identified the merits of this mode, even before the pandemic outburst, in 2018 itself when it published regulations in this regard and sanctioned it. Consecutively in 2021, it came up with revised regulations refining the system more feasible for both the institutions and learners.

Higher Educational Institutions having NAAC score 3.26 and above or having rank in Top-100 in University category of National Institutional Ranking Framework, at least twice in three preceding cycles (at the time of application), shall be permitted to start full-fledged Online programmes without prior approval of the UGC.
A university that fulfills the requirements of the accreditation validates how worthy it is to offer online courses.
The decisive NAAC licencing:
NAAC is also a government body that assesses higher education institutions on the scale of some categorical parameters and grades them. The obtained score puts a university or institution on a rank. NAAC assesses the colleges for their conformance to the quality standards in terms of their performance related to the educational processes and outcomes, curriculum coverage, teaching-learning processes, faculty, research, infrastructure, learning resources, organisation, governance, financial well being, and student services.
July’21, UGC issued a list of 35 higher educational institutions acknowledging and entitling them to start full-fledged online programs.

Guru Nanak Dev Universit from Amritsar, hand-in-hand with the national aim of encouraging cultural and language education, is offering undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in the Punjabi language.
