Short Bio

Jamia Hamdard University the “deemed to be University” was established in 1989 on the amalgamation of the institutes formed before it by its patron Hakeem Abdul Hameed and his associates.

It was the dream and idea of Hakeem Hafiz Abdul Majeed the renowned Unani medicine practitioner of his time to spread knowledge for the benefit of societies through teaching. Hakeem Abdul Hammed realized his father’s dream by establishing the University and named it ‘Hamdard” meaning “sympathy for all and sharing of pain”.

The University offers graduate, postgraduate, and research programmes in several disciplines ranging from science to arts and humanities from its campus located in the capital of India. In the Online Distance Learning (ODL) mode, it is offering BCOM, BCOMH, & BBA programs. The University holds ‘A’ Grade NAAC accreditation and ranks among the top NIRF rankings.
